over 69 years offering educational and cultural enrichment

At St Mary’s Ukrainian School, we want to see displaced Ukrainian children be ambitious, confident, and able to fulfil their future aspirations no matter how long they stay in the UK and where life takes them next.

About Us

Ukrainian St Mary’s Trust is a Charity that has been helping displaced Ukrainian children re- establish themselves. With a legacy of over 69 years, our organisation has been a cornerstone of the UK’s Ukrainian community, fostering identity and offering educational and cultural enrichment.

100% of our cohort, particularly teenagers, face the trauma of displacement.
Most displaced Ukrainian children face challenges of social and economic integration.
There is a deep need to preserve cultural heritage and national identity for this vulnerable cohort.

Our Belief

We believe that, regardless of what is happening in the adult world, all children deserve a nurturing space where they can celebrate who they are, grow, and flourish.

St Mary’s Unique Approach

  • Supplementary education, enrichment, ESOL provision, and ESW support in mainstream schools.
  • Partnership with CNWL NHS Trust and Ukraine response teams in RBKC and
Westminster, other LA across London, UK-wide partnership.
  • Trauma screening for children and families.
  • On-boarding of a Ukrainian-speaking educational psychologist.
  • Weekly clinical meetings.
  • Trauma Recovery Technique provision – stabilisation groups for children.

Once we help these children control their emotional levels caused by trauma, they will be more perceptive to other services available for them in education.

Our program ensures that children in need have a multi-agency plan in place and facilitates relevant referrals for specialist mental health input when required.
